Your weekly Bruins News Update: June 7th-June 13th

(We all know why Dougie is requesting more money…)

Hello fellow Bruins fans!

Every week, I will attempt to do a overview of all Bruins News that occured in the week. This can be posted as early as Monday and as late as Saturday, and I will edit in new things as they come along.

With the Bruins season over, I feel like I can’t fill one single blog post with one news story. I will be doing short summaries and blurbs of each signing/news story that came out.

On Twitter (@bruinsatgahden), I retweet a lot of news stories that are featured in this post. For more info on any of these stories, I would look there.

Without further ado, Lets review the week so far!

  • Mustache Claude: I seriously think he looks super cool. Claude Julien is now confirmed to return to the Bruins bench next season. There was some uncertainty to his role next season, after a disappointing season. After Mike Babcock’s move to Toronto, our very own Claude Julien is now the longest tenured coach in the NHL.
  • Update on Carl: So the Bruins are unlikely to resign Carl Soderberg. To be honest, I am not shocked by this news. Soderberg had a breakout season with 13 goals and 33 assists. He is also a valuable 3rd Liner. With the tight salary cap situation in Boston, Soderberg is probably requesting a lot more money than he got this past season. Plus, we have a whole other situation regarding Dougie Hamilton and his contract issues as well…
  • Another signing: The Bruins have signed Noel Acciari to an entry level contract. The Forward played with the Providence College Friars, that defeated Boston University in the NCAA College Ice Hockey Championship. During last season, he registered 15 goals and 17 assists. He is a Rhode Island Native and has played 3 seasons with Providence College.
  • What is life w/o Playoff Beards?: A NBC TV representative is calling for an end to Playoff Beards. Apparently, his reasoning is to create “better” recognition and develop stars. Seriously, he should shut his mouth. Hockey Traditions stay traditions.
  • Derek Sanderson Documentary: The Documentary premiered on June 8th (Monday). You can watch it for free and online, at this link! ->
